Obituaries
Robert Joseph Conklin of Napa, California, formerly of Franklin Lakes, died Dec. 12. He was 74. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War. He was owner and president of The Conklin Corporation. He was a founder and director of Greater Community Bank, now a part of Valley National Bank in New Jersey. He served on the Franklin Lakes Board of Education. He was a volunteer Little League baseball and basketball coach. He was a parishioner of the Church of the Most Blessed Sacrament in Franklin Lakes. He is survived by his wife Sonia, his children Gregory of Sebastopol, California, Mark of Franklin Lakes, Keith of New Orleans, Louisiana, and Scott of Arabi, Louisiana, three grandchildren, and his brother Joseph of Franklin Lakes. He was predeceased by his parents John and Catherine Conklin, and his brothers John and Gerard. Maryland, formerly of Wyckoff, died Dec. 9. She was 89. She was a fashion model with John Robert Powers Agency in New York. She had volunteered making Braille books for the blind in New Jersey, and volunteered in the in-house store at Ginger Cove Health Center in Maryland. She is survived by her children Jean Mansur of Raritan Township, Carol Dickinson of Westminster, Maryland, Elaine Dickinson of Davidsonville, Maryland, two grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Robert Earl Dickinson. Arrangements were made by George P. Kalas Funeral Home in Maryland. He is survived by his parents George and Elsie Nassor, his siblings Donna Nassor of Wyckoff, Cynthia Mamary of Hawthorne, and George Nassor Jr. of New Hampshire, a niece, and a nephew. Regino Rodriguez of Wyckoff died Dec. 15. He was 91. Arrangements were made by D’Agostino Funeral Home in Haskell.

Van Lenten of Waldwick, formerly of Wyckoff, died Dec. 15. He was 95. Before retiring, he was employed by A&P Tea Company for 46 years, first managing grocery stores and supervising during the transition to supermarkets. He then joined the administrative staff, heading up divisions in personnel, operating, and sales, holding positions of national director of sales, vice president of the Columbus, Ohio unit, vice president of the New York unit, and merchandise director. He was a member of the Volunteer Fire Company #2 in Wyckoff and was a Cub pack leader. He was a founding member of Wyckoff YMCA. He served as a Wyckoff representative on the Ramapo Indian Hills Regional High School Board of Education. He served 11 years on the Waldwick Board of Adjustment, and was chairman of the New Jersey Utility Investors’ Group. He was a member of the Wyckoff Reformed Church and the First Presbyterian Church of Ridgewood and of Hobbyists Unlimited of Ridgewood. He was a member of the social and organization of Tamaron in Waldwick. He is survived by his son Paul of Pace, Florida, six grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Jane, his son Lee, his daughter Ellen, and his brother Walter. Arrangements were made by Vander Plaat Funeral Home in Wyckoff. She had been a teacher in Wyckoff, Boca Raton, Florida, and Edisto Beach South Carolina. She was the recipient of three Outstanding Teacher Awards in New Jersey and Florida. Anne C. Sluis of Wyckoff died Dec. 13. She was 83. Before retiring, she was an adoption social worker with Bethany Christian Services for over 20 years. She was a volunteer at the Christian Health Care Center in Wyckoff, and a member of Cedar Hill Christian Reformed Church of Wyckoff. She is survived by her children Steven P. of Ballwin, Missouri, Gordon W. of Vicksburg, Mississippi, James P. of Ridgewood, and Kathleen Anne Bristley of Grass Valley, California, 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
