District could have new superintendent by July 1
by Frank J. McMahon The Ramapo Indian Hills Regional High School District could have a new superintendent by the end of the school year. August C. DePreker, the district’s current interim superintendent, provided an update on the school trustees’ effort to search for a new superintendent at the school board’s last public meeting. He advised that the closing date for the receipt of letters of intent was Feb. 12, and 16 letters of interest were received. Application packets were sent to the interested parties, and 12 applications were filed with the district by the Feb. 27 deadline. Interviews will be conducted through early April to determine the most qualified candidate. A decision on that most qualified candidate will then be reached and a recommendation will be made to the school board, DePreker advised. He said that, depending on the
existing contract of the successful candidate, which could require 90 days notice, he expects that the new superintendent could be in the district by July 1. DePreker, the former superintendent of the Midland Park school district, assumed his duties as the Ramapo Indian Hills interim superintendent on Nov. 1, 2008 after being chosen by the regional school board by unanimous (continued on page 23)
