Police detective arrests New York woman
by John Koster Ridgewood Police Detective Douglas Williams may have cleared at least three burglaries that occurred in the Oak Street apartments earlier this month when he arrested a Monsey, New York woman on a violation of probation. The suspect was charged with two counts of burglary, two counts of theft, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, and a probation violation when Detective Williams noticed loot taken from Ridgewood apartments. The woman was remanded to the Bergen County Jail after she was unable to post $35,000 in bail.
Police also reported several more thefts from unlocked parked cars in which cash and electronics equipment were taken. Residents are urged to lock their vehicles at all times, even in their own driveways, and to take valuables inside the house and leave electronic gear concealed if at all possible.
