Council welcomes two experienced police officers
by John Koster The Glen Rock Borough Council recently welcomed two new police officers, Patrolman Lucas Doney and Patrolman Gregory Carter. Both officers will be able to begin work immediately. “I would like to thank the police department for getting us two outstanding candidates,” said Mayor John van Keuren at last week’s council meeting. “We had tremendous candidates, but these two rose to the top and it’s great to have them,” said Councilman Mike O’Hagan. “The candidates were exemplary,” Councilman Byron Arnao agreed. Doney is an alternate route graduate of the John H. Stamler Police Academy in Scotch Plains and was previously
employed as a police officer with New Jersey Institute of Technology in Newark. He has a BA degree in psychology from Lock Haven, Pennsylvania, and is married. Carter is an alternate route graduate of the Essex County Community College Police Academy and holds and associate’s degree in criminal justice from the Sussex County Community College. He brings with him experience in fire department and medical emergency services and is married and the father of a new son. The two officers start at a salary of $35,756. The new officers began their one-year probationary period and the 12-week field training program last week after taking their oaths at the public meeting of the Glen Rock Borough Council.
