The school is located on Maple Avenue in Glen Rock. Adults over the age of 21 are welcome to participate in this fundraiser for the school’s Educational Enrichment Program. The event will include prize baskets, light refreshments, and $100 worth of fun chips. BYOB. Tickets are $45 per person. Friends donate software The Friends of the Glen Rock Library recently presented the library with updated Windows Office software. The software will be installed on all of the computers used by the public, and will include Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint, and Access. Many of the computers, which were purchased with a grant from the borough, did not include the software. The library provides 20 computers that patrons use for many purposes, including research for school and professional assignments, contacting family and friends via e-mail, and taking academic and business accreditation tests online. The library is located at 315 Rock Road. Jewish Center observes Veterans Day The Glen Rock Jewish Center will hold a Veterans Day observance on Friday, Nov. 13 at 8 p.m. during the regular Friday evening service. The community is invited to attend. The center is located at 682 Harristown Road. Smoking cessation, weight loss workshops set The Glen Rock Community School at 600 Harristown Road in Glen Rock will offer smoking cessation and weight loss workshops on Tuesday, Nov. 3. Presented by the Hypnosis Counseling Center, each one hour workshop includes hypnosis exercises, discussion, and an optional CD for $18. The workshops may be taken individually or as a set. The smoking cessation workshop runs from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. The weight loss group meets from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. The workshops will be led by Barry Wolfson, who possesses a master’s degree in counseling and 23 years of proven success in the art of hypnosis. Mature Parishioners plan events The Saint Catharine Association of Mature Parishioners will hold a Day of Recollection on Friday, Nov. 6 at 10 a.m. followed by Mass at 11:30 a.m., lunch, and a final conference. Seniors plan fall trips The Glen Rock Seniors will hold a Patriot Salute Day celebration at the Inn at Hunt’s Landing on Nov. 11. This event will be a salute to the men and women defending our freedom. The trip will include a full hot breakfast buffet, four-hour open bar, dinner buffet, music, dancing, entertainment, and transportation. The cost of the trip is $43 for members, $46 for non-members. The bus will depart from Wilde Park in Glen Rock at 8:45 a.m. For more information, contact Evelyn at (201) 445-9238. ‘Macbeth’ comes to Glen Rock The Glen Rock High School Theater Company will perform Shakespeare’s “Macbeth” at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 19, 20, and 21. All performances will be held in the Glen Rock High School all purpose room located behind the middle school gym. Tickets are $10 for adults, and $7 for senior citizens and students under 18. Dinner and the performance will be offered for the Saturday, Nov. 21 show. Attendees may enjoy a catered dinner with friends and family in the Glen Rock High School cafeteria prior to the performance. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Tickets for the dinner and the show are $25 for adults and $20 for senior citizens and students under 18. General admission tickets also available for this performance. Tickets may be purchased at the Glen Rock High School Hamilton Lobby on Oct. 27, 30 and Nov. 4 from 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., and on Oct. 28 and Nov. 2 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. All proceeds support the GRHS Theater Company. Bunco fundraiser set WICS (Women in Community Service) will host a Bunco fundraiser on Friday, Nov. 13 at 7:30 p.m. in the Annex on Maple Avenue. Graduation Ball fundraiser set Glen Rock residents are invited to support the Graduation Ball by purchasing fundraiser tickets from the Glen Rock High School Home and School Association. The fundraiser includes a grand prize of up to $15,000 and 10 prizes of up to $500 each. The winner will be announced at the Nov. 21 Beefsteak Dinner at Saint Leon’s Church in Fair Lawn. “Grad Ball” is a 52-year tradition in Glen Rock, and provides a safe, alcohol free graduation night event, with funds raised by parents.
