Obituaries Jane M. Bridges
Jane M. Bridges, M.B.B.S., nee Hackworth, of Hack-
ensack, formerly of Ridgewood, died April 20. She was
63. She was an anesthesiologist. She graduated from Saint
Bartholomew’s Hospital and Medical College in London
and practiced in London and South Africa before coming
to the United States in 1993. She was a member of the Brit-
ish Coffee group in Ridgewood. She is survived by her
husband John and her children Kerri and Kristen. Arrange-
ments were made by Feeney Funeral Home in Ridgewood.

Nancy Millicent Bristow
Nancy Millicent Bristow, nee Corbett, of Mahwah, died
April 23. She was 84. She attended Queens College and
received her master’s degree from Columbia University.
She was a secondary level math teacher and an avid gar-
dener. She was a member of the Fyke Nature Association
and a volunteer at the New Jersey Botanical Gardens. She
is co-author of “Identifying Woody Plants at the Celery
Farm Natural Area.” She is survived by her son David, her
daughter Ruth Portela, and her grandchildren Michael and
Sara Portela. She was predeceased by her husband John, her
daughter Martha, and her sister Jeanne. Visitation will be
held at Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home, 177 Route
59 in Suffern, New York on Friday, May 2 from 2 to 4 p.m.
and 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral service will be Saturday, May
3 at Saint John’s Episcopal Church in Ramsey. Memorial

Richard ‘Rick’ Colton
Richard “Rick” Colton of Glen Rock, formerly of Fair
Lawn, died April 22. He was 82. He served and was a first
lieutenant in the Army ROTC during the Korean War. He
earned his bachelor’s degree in mathematics and his MBA
at New York University. He was vice president of purchas-
ing at Merrill Lynch in New York City. He was a member of
the Masonic Order in Queens, New York; a member of the
Glen Rock Activities Club, where he served as treasurer and
membership chairman; the Fair Lawn Drug Abuse Coun-
sel; and the Society for the Advancement of Management.
He is survived by his wife Marilyn Mendelsohn Colton and
his daughter Michele E. Green. He is also survived by his
stepchildren Steven A. Mendelsohn, Linda J. Mayer, and
Wendy E. Padykula, and four grandchildren. He was pre-
deceased by his wife Ann S. Colton. Arrangements were
made by Louis Suburban Chapel in Fair Lawn. Memorial

Dorothy C. Gordon
Dorothy C. Gordon, nee Griffin, of Ridgewood died
April 19. She was 85. She was a parishioner of Our Lady
of Mount Carmel R.C. Church in Ridgewood. She served
in the Ridgewood schools as a lunch aide and worked
as a receptionist for the Christian Health Care Center in
Wyckoff. She is survived by her children Dorothy Gordon
Sinopoli, Carol Gordon Sinopoli, Barbara Jean Gordon,
Allison Gordon Manzi, and Lorraine Gordon Cohen. She is
also survived by 17 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren,
and her siblings Gloria Connors, Teddy Pollock, Patsy
Kiernan, and Catherine Montevano. She was predeceased
by her husband Edward J. Gordon Sr. and her son Edward
J. Gordon Jr. Arrangements were made by Feeney Funeral
Home in Ridgewood.
Anna E. Lapinsky
Anna E. Lapinsky, nee Rutkowska, of Toms River, for-
merly of Hawthorne and Saddle River, died April 20. She
was 95. She worked for Barbizon as an inspector and then
at Thermwell as a machine operator. She was a former
parishioner of Saint Casimir’s R.C. Church in Paterson.
She is survived by her daughters Lenore Winter of Toms
River and Jo-Anne Kressaty of Fon du Lac, Wisconsin, and
two grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband
Joseph Lapinsky. Arrangements were made by Browning-
Forshay Funeral Home in Hawthorne.
Suzanne G. Maddison
Suzanne G. Maddison, nee Mooney, of Ho-Ho-Kus died
April 20. She was 82. She had worked at the Allendale Travel
Service. She was a parishioner of Zion Lutheran Church in
Saddle River and served as a past-president of the Ho-Ho-
Kus Seniors. She is survived by her husband Donald and
her daughter Dawn (Maddison) Capanna. She is also sur-
vived by her siblings Edna Mooney, Edwin J. Mooney III,
Joan Schoeffel, and Robert Mooney. She was predeceased
by her sister Marie Kerber. Arrangements were made by
Feeney Funeral Home in Ridgewood. Memorial donations

Joya Mirante
Joya Mirante, nee Pizzollo, of Mahwah died April
17. She was 48. She is survived by her husband Dominic
Mirante and her siblings Patrick Pizzollo of California,
Angela Harrison of Dumont, Judy Pizzollo of Nevada,
Gail Burns of Washington Township, and Steven Pizzollo
of Ridgefield. Arrangements were made by the Cremation
Society of New Jersey. Memorial donations may be made

Ann E. Waddingham
Ann E. Waddingham of Pompton Plains, formerly of Ho-
Ho-Kus, died April 23. She was 91. She received her B.S.
and M.S. from Seton Hall and Saint John’s University and
taught for 47 years in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New
York. She was a member of the New Jersey and National
Education associations. She is survived by her stepchildren
Anita Farney, Douglas Waddingham, and Donna LaBrus-
ciano, and her nephew Thomas Vallely. She was prede-
ceased by her husband Les Waddingham. Arrangements
were made by M. John Scanlan Funeral Home in Pompton
Plains. Memorial donations may be made to Holy Family
Convent in Danville, Pennsylvania.
Roger William Wiegand
Roger William Wiegand of Ridgewood died April 18.
He was 70. He was a graduate of Ridgewood High School
and received a BA in education from Fairleigh Dickinson
University. He taught business law and typing at Cresskill
High School for 25 years before retiring in 1993. He is sur-
vived by nephew Frederick Michael Daley III of Hewitt and
three nieces. He was predeceased by his parents Francis
J., Sr. and Eleanor Cooper Wiegand and his siblings Fran-
cis J. Wiegand Jr. and Eleanor Daley. Arrangements were
made by C.C. Van Emburgh Funeral Home in Ridgewood.

Evelyn Ruth Yuhas
Evelyn Ruth Yuhas, nee Bokma, of Wyckoff, formerly
of Hasbrouck Heights and Fair Lawn, died April 18. Before
retiring, she was a waitress with Lido Restaurant in Hack-
ensack for 20 years. She is survived by her children Robert
Yuhas and Barbara Ann Lengen. She is also survived by
three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and her
sister of Ina Haas. She was predeceased by her husband
Robert Yuhas. Arrangements were made by Vander Plaat-
